MONTHLY SINCE 1999

ISSUE # 195

August – September 2015

AUTHORÕS NOTES:

We are in the middle of the retrograde motion of Venus. This is usually a time of distorted financial and relationship matters. We have seen the results in the worldÕs markets and in international relationships between countries. And many of us are experiencing difficulties in personal relationships. Venus will conjunct the Sun August 15th. This is called ÒcombustÓ in astrology and will increase the influence of this retrograde.

Last month I wrote:

ChinaÕs bubble is beginning to collapse, as IÕve been warning for a long time. This is the most dangerous situation economically we are currently facing.

The Chinese have devalued their currency, the Yuan, which make their exports more attractive and creates an artificial imbalance in the world. The dollar becomes stronger, and U.S. products become more expensive. This is just one of the ways the Chinese are trying to show that their economy is still expanding at an aggressive rate. While the 2% - 3% devaluation isnÕt terribly much compared to the appreciation of the Yuan against the Yen, for example (about 80% over the past few years), or the Hong Kong dollar, it does show the manipulation the Chinese are willing to exploit to keep their image of a competitive edge. This is a dangerous game. As we head into the Saturn-Neptune square this fall there will be much confusion about currencies and banking (SaturnÕs domain). We will see problems with the worldÕs banks, and the investments into things like the Chinese real estate market could have a seriously negative effect on hedge funds and banks. The world markets are very weak, as I predicted, and we may be heading into recession for the coming year. China is cooling off. Car sales, industry and commodities have dropped appreciatively. Their economy is much weaker than people have realized. Most economists believe it is growing at about 2% at best, not the 7%-8% they have been claiming. China is the 2nd largest economy in the world, and this will have a strong effect on the worldÕs markets. Just what one would expect as Saturn and Neptune go into a conflicting aspect.

Last month I also wrote:

If, as IÕm afraid may be the case, your retirement fund is partially financed by investment in this Ponsi scheme, when this bubble does finally explode it will have reverberations throughout the world. And we will once again watch as our pensions and retirement funds suffer large loses.

Only time will tell what the results will be, but we will have a better idea by October, our favorite month for financial disasters. Those who read my newsletters know that I DO NOT expect a stock market crash. But we could easily stay in a bear market and go into an extended recession over the next few months. While the U.S. economic news continues to be upbeat and rather optimistic, we are no longer isolated. In our modern globalized world very market affects every other one. And with the Chinese economy so large the affects of a slow down there will reverberate around the world.

Oil continues to decline. Most of us by now realized that the fossil fuels are a dying industry. How long it will take is anyoneÕs guess. But within 50 years only the emerging markets will rely heavily on oil and coal to fuel their nations. Most countries are rapidly exploring alternative energy sources and we will see a major shift in the next few decades. If the oil companies are smart they will invest in diversifying into wind, solar, thermo, etc or they will become dinosaurs. We will have solar cars, houses, and batteries. Towns on the coast will use wind and tide power. Those inland will begin to use thermo devices – driving poles deep into the earth and making use of our molten center for heat and electricity.

Enjoy the rest of summer. And pay tribute to the great mother – the ocean. ItÕs in very bad health and in danger of dying from manÕs foolish short-sighted greed. Sign petitions, donate what you can, and push our world governments to stop the madness. When the ocean goes, so does humanity.

NEW MOON:

The New Moon falls on Friday August 14th at 10:53 A.M. EDT at 21 degrees Leo 31 minutes. This is an interesting New Moon. Leo is a very showy sign, and the focus this month will be about presentation and dealing with the public. This is the one of the more playful signs as well. Leo rules the stage, children, romance, and games of all sorts. ItÕs a time to enjoy yourself and dip your toes into the love-pond. Not all romantic encounters will work out, but the attempt at a relationship will bring feelings of satisfaction none the less. Sometimes success is more about willing to take the plunge regardless of the outcome. This New Moon will immediately conjunct retrograde Venus and set the stage for a month of relationships. Because Venus is Rx many of those relationships will not work out. But as they say, itÕs often the journey not the destination that matters. And for many people who havenÕt had a romance in a long time, just trying will help brush off the cobwebs so even if the first attempt isnÕt a great success, perhaps it will lead you to a 2nd or even 3rd try at coupling.

THE SUN CONJUNCTS VENUS:

On Saturday August 15th at 3:22 P.M. EDT Venus will be combust. The conjunct to the Sun heightens this retrograde Venus and will increase the influence of this planetÕs energy. Until Venus goes direct we are all in a period when the issues associated with that planet will be internalized and somewhat limited. This includes love and financial matters. That doesnÕt mean that all relationships will have problems, or that everyone will be broke. It depends on where Venus is transiting your personal chart and what aspects itÕs creating. Today we will see a highlight of those situations. This is a very sociable transit, and you should spend time with people. Many will experience feelings of warmth and compassion. There will be a tendency to overindulge in sweets and earthly pleasures, so pay attention to what youÕre doing and ingesting. Even though Venus is in retrograde this will be a nice energy, so spend some time in nature or engaged in social activities.

MERCURY TRINES PLUTO:

Also on Saturday August 15th at 3:54 P.M. EDT this positive connection will deepen our conversations and thoughts. Many discussions will take on a more significant feel as we all try to delve deeply into any subject. There is a strong desire to uncover the truth and superficial answers will not suffice. Because this is a trine we can use this energy in a proactive way. Get to the bottom of things and explore your communications. Because this comes only minutes after the Sun – Venus conjunct it will be a pleasant afternoon when you can examine some difficult issues without upsetting the applecart. When Mercury squares Pluto on September 9th (see that date below) many issues and ideas that are brought up today will be tested to see if they are still valid.

VENUS TRINES URANUS:

On Wednesday August 19th at 12:44 P.M.EDT love will take a decidedly unusual turn. Uranus wants something different, and because this is a positive trine you can use it to create an atmosphere of interesting ideas without turning to the bizarre. Do something different with your friends or significant other. Maybe an amusement park or a drive to a new location will be rewarding. Allow your imagination some room. This is a very creative transit for anyone in the arts.

THE SUN SQUARES SATURN:

On Friday August 21st at 7:40 P.M. EDT this difficult and restrictive transit completes. This will be a day of limited energy, and many will feel tired or unenthusiastic, especially if this square sets off your own chart. This is a low energy day and expectations shouldnÕt be too high. Get your work done and deal with the most important issues. Once this passes you can get back to summer play. You shouldnÕt push too hard under a Saturn aspect. Just wait it out and focus on the most pressing things. This is usually a bad day for the equity markets, although if they have been heading downward, this may be the temporary bottom. With the Sun about to conjunct Jupiter next Wednesday I wouldnÕt be surprised by a mini-rally.

THE SUN ENTERS VIRGO:

On Sunday August 23rd at 6:38 A.M. EDT we enter the mutable part of summer. This is when it begins to feel like autumn, even though technically we have another month of summer. Virgo is one of the most critical of signs. In the mind it rules the details and assimilation of information. In the body it rules the small intestines and the start of the assimilation of food and nutrition. So for the next month our focus will be on the small details and the accruing of knowledge. It also rules the auditors and bean-counters in our culture. When Saturn, ruler of the banks, entered Virgo in late 2007 it led to the assessment of our banking industry, which was found to be very weak due to the mortgage fiasco that led to the crash of 2008. At that point the banks almost failed, if not for federal intervention. Make sure your work is in order, pay attention to the details in your life, and backup all important information.

MERCURY SEXTILES SATURN:

On Wednesday August 26th at 12:08 P.M. EDT this useful aspect will complete. This isnÕt a very flamboyant transit, but it can be used to assess and scrutinize all issues. Paperwork should be examined and any changes that need to be made can be done so without much difficulty. The sextiles and trines must be used proactively or their influence will be lessened. This is a good day for any important conversation. Your ideas will be succinct and you can express them clearly and honestly.

THE SUN CONJUNCTS JUPITER:

Also on Wednesday August 26th at 6:02 P.M. EDT this excellent transit comes along. Today many of us will be optimistic and outgoing. This is a very sociable transit that favors group activities. ItÕs a good day to explore new ideas and for looking at the bigger picture. Travel is favored, and any journey will certainly expand your perspective. DonÕt sit in front of a computer all day. Get out and see the world. This may produce an upswing in the equities. But this aspect isnÕt powerful enough to offset the difficulties in the world markets. And with the Sun in opposition to Neptune next Monday I doubt that any rally will continue for very long.

MERCURY ENTERS LIBRA:

On Thursday August 27th at 11:45 A.M. EDT the planet of communication enters the sign of relationships. For the next few weeks we will all be talking about our connections to each other. This is a good placement for intimacy and delving into the purpose of a relationship. But because Libra tends to be a passive-aggressive energy many things may not be said outright. You may find that you have to prod and poke to get to the heart of the matter. But once you get to a place of comfort it will be easy to communicate.

FULL MOON:

This monthÕs lunar peak occurs on Saturday August 29th at 2:35 P.M. EDT at 06 degrees Pisces 06 minutes. The Full Moon in Pisces is about spiritual and internal issues more than worldly affairs. This is a much calmer Full Moon than last monthÕs in Aquarius, but it can still pack a different king of punch. If this sets off a sensitive point in your chart you will feel its effects, though they may be subtle in some cases. The ethereal is more heightened than usual, and all matters of spirituality, healing, and service will be prominent. Relationships will be examined from this more selfless perspective and many of us will seek ways to aid our partner. But because Pisces isnÕt all that attached to the Òreal worldÓ it may feel somewhat disconnected and unattached. But that doesnÕt mean the other person isnÕt concerned, only that they may be distant and distracted. If you look deeply you will see that the motivation is to help in anyway possible. Underlying health issues may come out now, and itÕs important to pay attention to what your body is telling you. Hidden problems, such as infections or physical breakdowns, could rise to the surface. Because Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac this has much to do with endings and leaving things behind as we approach next monthÕs Aries Full Moon. If something has been lingering longer than it should you may finally feel its release.

THE SUN OPPOSES NEPTUNE:

On Monday August 31st at 11:39 P.M. EDT this very confusing aspect will create a few days of misdirection and potential mistakes. Communications will be difficult, and you must double check to make sure you are understood and that you understand others. This is a low energy transit and most of us will feel its effects. You may not have your usual pep, and if so just try to relax and take things in stride. This is not a good day to push your agenda forward. Things will not work out as you planned, and the confusion it can create could easily become a problem. Wait a few days and then begin anew after this energy has dissipated. This is often a bad day for the stocks, and the way the markets have been acting lately I wouldnÕt be surprised by a sharp drop.

VENUS CONJUNCTS MARS:

On Tuesday September 1st at 1:04 A.M. EDT the male and female planets conjoin in Leo. Mars will have the upper hand, so to speak, as this is a fire sign giving it advantage by triplicity (Mars rules Aries, a fire sign). Expect relationships to be direct and assertive, even aggressive at times. This doesnÕt mean the men will rule and women will be subservient. Only that the person with the stronger Mars will tend to play the dominant role, and that generally relationship issues will defer to the more aggressive of the two. This is a time of attraction between the sexes, and it will be easier to assert yourself in your interactions no matter which role you play. There is little subtlety with Mars so many people will be outspoken and even demanding. But thatÕs fine as long as an understanding is reached.

THE SUN TRINES PLUTO:

On Saturday September 5th at 7:08 P.M. EDT this positive and delving aspect will give many of us a drive to reach the truth beneath the B.S. When Pluto aspects an inner planet itÕs goal is to dig deeply into any situation and ferret out the underlying issues. Because itÕs a trine we can do this without upsetting the status quo too much. This is a good time for any important conversation or for decision making regarding any serious situation. We can see what must be changed and go about beginning those changes assured of our intent.

VENUS GOES DIRECT:

On Sunday September 6th at 4:29 A.M. EDT Venus FINALLY turns around. This has been a rather difficult 6 weeks for relationships and financial matters. While any planet is in retrograde its energy is more internalized, which allows us the chance to view it on a personal level and make decisions about our own use of that energy. But once it goes direct itÕs time to project that energy out into the world and put into practice what weÕve been thinking about. So you will see a number of situations that have been delayed or unable to more forward finally getting that push. Some relationships will strengthen now, and others will end. It depends upon what is needed. While Venus was in retrograde most things were just put on the back burner as we examined them. Now they will be put into action. This is also true about many financial matters, so if youÕve been stalled in a business deal or waiting for money, it should move forward soon.

MARS TRINES URANUS:

On Tuesday September 8th at 3:53 P.M. EDT this trine will allow us to make changes in the direction of our lives without too much trouble. The trines must be used proactively, as I said earlier in this newsletter, or they will not produce the effects they are capable of. So push things now and use the Mars energy for any innovative ideas youÕve been considering. Any interaction between these two planets has the potential for explosive results. Even under a trine or sextile we can be overly aggressive without realizing it. So use some caution when dealing with others. You can more easily sidestep any problems with the positive aspects. All it takes is awareness and paying attention.

MERCURY SQUARES PLUTO:

On Wednesday September 9th at 3:23 P.M. EDT many people will be a bit angry, especially in communications. Be careful how you say things. YouÕll want to dig into the undercurrent and express exactly what youÕre feeling. Just be aware of how you are doing it. How we say things can have as much an affect as what we say. If you canÕt control your tongue, leave things for a day or so and then have that conversation. Travel may be difficult as well, and itÕs very easy to get into an altercation involving road-rage. If youÕre angry, do not get behind the wheel of a car. Also realize that the guy in the other car may also be angry. DonÕt drive aggressively. Be defensive and let little things slide. As I said above, this will have a direct reaction to what was done when Mercury was in trine to Pluto on August 15th.

DARK OF THE MOON:

The next New Moon falls on Sunday September 13th at 2:41 A.M. EST at 20 degrees Virgo 10 minutes. The day or two leading up to it will be a particularly low energy period. If you tend to be emotional this may be a very trying time each month. I have found that people with prominent moons or a Cancer Sun, Moon or ascendant respond to the cycles of the moon more intensely than others. Spend this time finishing up anything that is incomplete, donÕt try to initiate new projects on a waning moon, it just wonÕt work out. Once the New Moon hits you begin new projects or attempt a new approach to an existing problem. If you have been living in a situation or involved in a relationship that is intolerable or has outlived its usefulness this would be the proper time to move on with your life. If you have been working on a project that is almost complete but you seem to lack the energy for the finality, you must push during these low energy days to end the matter once and for all. If you donÕt, when the New Moon arrives it will bring this ÒdeadÓ energy along with it and conflict with the newer force being presented. Each month we are offered a chance to clean house, so to speak.

Note: All aspects are most powerful and effective as they apply. Once the transit has completed, its force is lessened. The further it separates the weaker it becomes.

Below is a list of times this month when the Moon is Void of Course and neither important decisions nor purchases should be made during these periods. The Void of Course Moon is a time when we should try to center ourselves and deal with spiritual matters not materialistic ones. Any decisions made on the VC Moon will not turn out the way we had expected.

The Moon is Void of Course from the time it makes its last major aspect in a sign until it enters the next sign. For example, if the Moon squares Mars at 27 degrees Aries and then has no more aspects until it enters Taurus it will be Void of Course for three degrees or about 6 hours. The aspects used are the conjunction, sextile, square, trine, and opposition. All times are Eastern Standard Time:
