ISSUE # 168

March – April 2013

This month will see a lot of intense transits. We have a plethora of planets traveling through Aries: Mars, Venus, the Sun, and Uranus. All of those inner planets will conjunct Uranus, the planet of unpredictable and explosive energy. Each of those transits to Uranus requires our attention and caution, especially The Sun and Mars. Caution is called for this month. Awareness and attention to the Ņhere and nowÓ will prevent most difficulties.

Those of you who follow my newsletter or heard my recent interview on Coast to Coast AM know that I expect a major correction in the stock markets over the next few months, probably beginning by April. The stock market is way over-bought and being puffed up by the government and a handful of hedge-fund managers hell bent on making a new high in the indexes, no matter what the cost. My concern is that by the time the little guy gets sucked into it, the top will already be in place and most of the big money will be removed. I have seen it time and time again. The Uranus transits at the end of March will most likely herald in a bearish period. In my many years on the floor of the Mercantile Exchange I found that Uranus often represents the turn-around of the market it is affecting. With so many personal planets conjunct that erratic planet we can expect major reversals in many areas, especially the stocks.

The fundamentals for a new bull market just arenÕt there. I hope IÕm wrong, but I believe what we are seeing is a huge bear market rally that has sent the DOW to an all-time high, as I predicted. Only time will tell. While one of the jobs of an astrologer is to predict coming events, I never felt that it was necessary to be 100% correct. Just as I hoped I was wrong over the past decade when I predicted the collapse of the housing market, the stock market crash, and the debilitating recession, I wouldnÕt mind being wrong now. A strong financial environment would improve my business and so many of my friendsÕ situations. It would be great to get back into a period similar to the incredible bull market of 1982-2000. I just canÕt predict that based on the astrological aspects I see coming, or the reality of our economy. You can not have a true recovery when only the rich get richer. If I am wrong we will know it soon. If the stocks really are in a bull market, nothing will deter their upward motion for more than a few days at a time. And I will be the first to admit the mistake. Late March and April will be a most important test of the underlying stability in the equities markets.

Once Mercury goes direct on March 17th we will see the true value of things. Saturn will inconjunct Uranus in early April, and Uranus will square Pluto in May. I believe these transits are sufficient to set off a reversal in the stocks. The Sun, Venus, and Mars will conjunct Uranus in late March (see below), which, as I said above, is often a signal of change of direction for the equities.

I have been writing for some time about the coming Grand Cross on April 20th 2014. I know itÕs a year away, but I have always made my predictions as far in advance as possible, and rarely change my mind or alter my outlook once it is set. That date is rapidly approaching, and we will see some signs of what to expect in advance. If IÕm right about this coming correction, it will be sharp and unnerving after so strong a run-up in the stocks. The dominoes will fall as we approach that powerful aspect next year. I do not expect the world to end, America to go out of business, or World War Three. But I do expect some events that will shake us up quite a bit and force us to redirect our energies into a new path. And I believe it will upset our financial markets in some fundamental ways. There will be some world events at that time that will force us to reevaluate where we are going. I will write about specifics as we get closer to that date.

Mercury goes direct March 17th at 4:03 P.M. EST. Because of the speed with which it travels around the Sun, Mercury is the only planet that retrogrades three times a year. Whenever it changes direction communications and travel are difficult and confusing. Secrets are often revealed, and well-documented problems arise. Computers often fail, and communiquˇs are lost or delayed. But during the retrograde period the world slows down, allowing us a chance to examine the direction we are going in. If you use the retrograde period to your advantage you can accomplish things that you normally wouldnÕt find the time to do. But once it goes forward again it seems as though everything moves too quickly. Mistakes, misunderstandings, and errors in judgment are common. Use caution for a few days until you get used to this energy.

The New Moon falls on Monday March 11th at 3:51 P.M. EST at 21 degrees Pisces 24 minutes, and once again itÕs a Void of Course New Moon. The Pisces New Moon is more interested in the spiritual and ethereal side of life than the material. Although we will have a lot of self-focused egotistic Aries energy this month with the Sun, Venus, and Mars joining Uranus in that cardinal fire sign, there will be an underlying sensitive side to how we see things and react towards each other, at least until the Full Moon. This is a bit of a confusing time when many issues are about endings, as Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac. But because of all the Aries force being projected, it is also about new beginnings. It may be difficult to see in which column a relationship, plan, or attitude belongs. DonÕt end something unless you are sure itÕs karma has been completed. And start new projects, relationships, etc. once you are certain your old business has been completed. The confusion this New Moon may produce shows that many of us are at a crossroads in our lives. Take your time and make your decisions once you have all of the information necessary. Because Mercury is still retrograde on this New Moon, communications may be foggy and information may be slow coming.

When a New Moon is very late in a sign it is often Void of Course. We have had several VOC New Moons lately, and this is another. It presents us with a month of unattached lunar energy. Things do not work out as we had planned, and the best way to handle it is to Ņgo with the flowÓ as they say. Try not to have preconceived notions about what should be. As new information and people enter our lives we must be willing and able to adjust to the new input. The way to deal with all VOC Moons is to be as open and willing to change as possible. Just donÕt expect things to work out as planned. Best laid plans oh mice and menÉ

Also on Tuesday March 12th at 2:26 A.M. EST Mars enters the sign of its rulership. The god of war does quite well in this assertive and aggressive sign. The ego will be un-tethered and will need freedom to move about. The excessive Aries energy we will experience this month may shake some of us up a bit. People will tend to be quite aggressive and outgoing. Restrictions will be met with distrust and it may be difficult to focus your attention where it is needed. Physical activities will help a great deal. Mars and Aries require a release of the excessive force they project. This is not a time to sit around or just concentrate on mental actions. We need to use our bodies and muscles, and any form of exercise or activity that works out the muscles will help. Keep an eye on your ego and how you deal with others. The assertiveness can be positive as long as it is projected in a caring and thoughtful way. It is easy to steamroll over others or to push your ego out into the forefront, only to confront someone elseÕs ego also being pushed out.

On Sunday March 17th at 4:03 P.M. EST itÕs safe to go back in the water. Mercury will turn around in Pisces and begins its journey forward once again. Now itÕs safe to sign those contracts, publish your book, or buy a new speedboat. Be careful for a few days as Mercury turns around. This is when most problems arise. We will all be trying to catch up with things that have been delayed or frustrating. The world will speed up and it is easy to get lost in the shuffle. Because Mercury is in Pisces there has been quite a bit of confusion and misdirection over the past few weeks. It will continue on some levels, and you may uncover some surprises and secrets now.

On Wednesday March 20th at 7:02 A.M. we begin the year anew. This is the New YearÕs Day that I always celebrate. It is the start of a new cycle and a time for initiating ideas, plans, and projects. There is a lot of assertiveness about this sign, as I said above, and with the Sun entering it along with all the other planets traveling through Aries we will all be concerned with what we can start-up. Any unfinished business should be completed before this day, if possible. You donÕt want to carry leftover issues into the New Year. Ongoing projects will just reach a new level of continuity. ItÕs time to move forward once again with most issues in your life. Continue to pay attention to how you are conducting yourself with others. It is very easy to act arrogantly, which would be counter-productive.

On Thursday March 21st at 11:15 P.M. EST Venus enters this Mars-ruled sign. Expect assertiveness in relationships. With Mars already in this aggressive sign and Venus joining it, love (physical and emotional) will be more direct and obvious. Aires has little regard for subtleties. Women in particular will tend to be more domineering. Money issues will also require some attention. It is easy to spend frivolously and without concern for limitations. We will all find pleasure in physical activities. Take a long walk, play some touch football, or go bowling.

On Friday March 22nd at 2:17 P.M. EST this most explosive and uncontrollable transit completes. This is an argument or accident waiting to happen. You must use caution and pay attention to whatÕs going on around you. Mars is the ego, the male-assertive side of us all (male or female), and Uranus rules unexpected events and uncontrolled energy. When the two meet up there is a great deal of force being emitted from us all. How you respond to that energy will decide how this aspect affects you. No aspect is inherently good or evil. It is only energy being offered by the universe. If you can use this excessive force to your advantage you can get a great deal of positive things done in a short time. You will also be able to assert yourself in ways that may often be difficult. If this conjunct sets off the planets in your chart it could cause you some angst or even an event. Awareness is everything in life, so try to be conscious of what you are doing and what others are up to.

On Tuesday March 26th at 6:27 A.M. EST this positive Mars transit comes along. This is a much easier transit than the Mars conjunct Uranus we had a few days ago. From late yesterday through the early part of today most of us will be optimistic and outgoing. This is a sociable aspect that will allow an assertive attitude without the aggression of that Uranus energy. Travel is favored, as is any social function. But because of the Jupiter-Pluto inconjunct, Mars will square Pluto tonight. The energy will change as the day goes on, and this outgoing and optimistic perspective will become more intense and compulsive. Make sure you are aware of the changing attitude around you or you could be shocked this evening when your friendly smile is rebuffed.

Also on Tuesday March 26th at 11:44 P.M. this intense and demanding aspect will take over from that Mars sextile Jupiter mentioned above. At some point during the afternoon you may notice a seismic shift in consciousness as we begin to approach this transit. This is a difficult and aggressive aspect that can cause problems. People will be compulsive and unyielding. Arguments will go nowhere. It would be best to sidestep them or avoid people you usually disagree with, and there will be no solution that satisfies anyone. This is not a day to accept a challenge or get into a fight at StarbuckÕs. There will be no clear winner, and everyone will feel foolish. The best way to use this energy is to work through it and focus your attention on your obligations. This hits right before the Libra Full Moon, and relationships could take a beating over these few days.

This monthÕs lunar peak occurs on Wednesday March 27th at 5:27 A.M. EST at 06 degrees Libra 52 minutes. Libra lives for relationships, and you can expect some to come to a head. Anything that has been left unsaid or incomplete between a couple will most likely demand your attention now. With Mars conjunct Uranus preceding this lunar peak, a great deal of forceful energy will be in the air. Use caution and try to avoid unnecessary conflicts. There will be plenty of real and necessary ones to deal with. You may find some people just looking for a fight. If they donÕt seem rational, or if the situation isnÕt important enough for you to engage in, leave it alone. Some relationships will end on this aspect, others will find their path. But in some ways they will all be affected.

On Thursday March 28th at 1:05 P.M. EST this aspect will shine a light on those relationships I discussed above. This is usually a very pleasant and pleasurable transit. Most people will be in a good mood, and any superficial social activity will fare well. But those relationships that are experiencing a reevaluation will continue to do so. The Sun will point out the areas of your relationships that arenÕt working out and demand your attention. Venus and the Sun will conjunct Uranus, the planet of unexpected events, later today. This is a very volatile day and we can expect some surprising events and encounters. Some connections will end altogether. Others will change direction and definition.

Also on Thursday March 28th at 7:01 P.M. EST this emotionally explosive aspect completes. Feelings will be changeable and erratic. Fickleness is often a result of this combination, so donÕt be surprised if someoneÕs feelings change suddenly, or if someone flip-flops back and forth. Wait until this and the Sun conjunct Uranus have completed before attempting to stabilize a situation. Trying to settle things down now is like trying to fly a kite in a hurricane. Romance and financial matters will be wobbly, and itÕs important to keep one foot solidly on the ground. This aspect can lead to sudden passionate and idealistic encounters. Just donÕt expect them to be stable or long-lasting. Wait until these aspects pass before committing your heart to a new fling. Money matters will be equally changeable. If this conjunct sets off your personal chart just right you could win or lose a fortune. This is an easy-come easy-go type of aspect without any security attached. Use your common sense and try to see if the excitement of the situation is worth the risks involved.

Also on Thursday March 28th at 8:38 P.M. EST this intense and unpredictable transit completes this cycle of Uranus aspects. This is much like Mars conjunct Uranus mentioned earlier in this report. It is an aggressive and uncontrollable energy that can lead to accidents, arguments, or other unexpected reactions. All of this Uranus energy also implies a turn-around in the financial markets. If the stocks have still been going higher, this week will be the top. Use extra caution during any of the Uranus transits. This one in particular has the ability to upset ongoing situations and create explosive encounters with others. Use caution while traveling. And in your personal encounters try to keep your temper. A sudden outburst may set off an incident that is difficult to reverse. Once you have said something it can never be unsaid.

On Friday March 29th at 12:56 P.M. EST many people will speak without thinking first. While this square will often produce optimistic and expansive thoughts and ideas, this square can cause a lot of difficulties in communications. Exaggeration or outright lies are common, so you must sift through what is being said and try to recognize the boundaries that are being violated. Jupiter has no sense of limitations, and since Mercury rules thoughts, communications, and short journeys, each of those areas must be watched carefully. Travel can be enjoyable and freeing, but caution while on the road is called for. You must pay attention to what you are doing. Distractions are common and speeding will be a strong desire. Be careful or youÕll wind up with a $200 ticket.

Also on Friday March 29th at 2:31 P.M. EST this positive sextile completes. Because of the aspect between Jupiter and Pluto they will both be aspected by the quicker moving planets. This transit will allow us to delve deeply into any subject or conversation. There is a compulsive side to all Pluto aspects, even the positive trine and sextile. But they are easier to control than the conjunct, square, or opposition. This coupled with the Mercury square Jupiter mentioned above will create a day of overwhelming thoughts and communications. Put things in perspective and figure out what is important enough to deal with. Leave the rest until another day.

Also on Sunday March 31st at 6:10 A.M. & 10:49 A.M. EST Venus will aspect both Pluto and Jupiter in short order. As the square to Pluto wanes the sextile to Jupiter will take over. For the most past this will be a pleasant day. The late morning and afternoon will be a good time for any social actions. Short journeys will be enjoyable, and you will take pleasure in eating and shopping. Entertainment of any sort, or any exposure to the arts will bring a lot of joy as well. However, as we approach the Sun square Pluto mentioned below feelings will change and an intense obsessive-compulsiveness will take over, so pay attention. As this energy changes so will peopleÕs attitudes.

Also on Sunday March 31st at 11:03 P.M. EST this stressful square will complete. By the late afternoon today we will all be feeling this force coming. It isnÕt earth-shaking, but it can upset the individual or relationships quite a bit. The obsessive side of Pluto is heightened by the SunÕs influence. Try to keep things in perspective. Find a release for any pent up tension you may be feeling. This is a difficult and compulsive aspect and many of us may find it hard to let go of things. This can generate anger that must be acknowledged or you may act out in unconscious ways. By bringing things to the surface you will help dissipate the stress this aspect can cause.

On Monday April 1st at 8:24 A.M. EST the energy will change quite a bit. This is very different from the Sun square Pluto we experienced yesterday. This is an optimistic and outgoing aspect that will increase our perspective and show us the many possibilities being offered by the universe. This favors all social activities, and itÕs a good morning for any kind of meeting or social brunch. It also favors travel, and this is a good day to begin a trip. Any educational endeavors you may pursue will work out well. ItÕs a good day to begin a new study or for reviewing the work you have done. Just pay attention to details, as Jupiter tends to only see the big picture and details can get lost in the shuffle.

On Sunday April 7th at 12:58 A.M. EST the male and female planets meet up in Mars-ruled Aries. There will be quite a bit of assertiveness in intimate relationships as the Martian energy takes control. Try not to be overly aggressive or too demanding. This conjunct can go either way in one-on-one connections. It can be very good and open up new paths to take your relationship, or it can cause conflict and disputes if you do not skillfully handle the excessive force behind the feelings expressed. If there are problems in a relationship they may very well come to the surface now.

The next New Moon falls on Wednesday April 10th at 5:35 A.M. EST at 20 degree Aries 41 minutes. The day or two leading up to it will be a particularly low energy period. If you tend to be emotional this may be a very trying time each month. I have found that people with prominent moons or a Cancer Sun, Moon or ascendant respond to the cycles of the moon more intensely than others. Spend this time finishing up anything that is incomplete, donÕt try to initiate new projects on a waning moon, it just wonÕt work out. Once the New Moon hits you begin new projects or attempt a new approach to an existing problem. If you have been living in a situation or involved in a relationship that is intolerable or has outlived its usefulness this would be the proper time to move on with your life. If you have been working on a project that is almost complete but you seem to lack the energy for the finality, you must push during these low energy days to end the matter once and for all. If you donÕt, when the New Moon arrives it will bring this ŅdeadÓ energy along with it and conflict with the newer force being presented. Each month we are offered a chance to clean house, so to speak.

Note: All aspects are most powerful and effective as they apply. Once the transit has completed, its force is lessened. The further it separates the weaker it becomes.

Below is a list of times this month when the Moon is Void of Course and neither important decisions nor purchases should be made during these periods. The Void of Course Moon is a time when we should try to center ourselves and deal with spiritual matters not materialistic ones. Any decisions made on the VC Moon will not turn out the way we had expected.

The Moon is Void of Course from the time it makes its last major aspect in a sign until it enters the next sign. For example, if the Moon squares Mars at 27 degrees Aries and then has no more aspects until it enters Taurus it will be Void of Course for three degrees or about 6 hours. The aspects used are the conjunction, sextile, square, trine, and opposition. All times are Eastern:
