ISSUE # 164
November – December 2012
This month we have eclipses in Scorpio (New Moon) and Gemini (Full Moon). The events these aspects create will have much to do with communication and the release of pent up energy, including some secrets and hidden agendas. Anything that isnÕt revealed at this New Moon eclipse will most likely come out on the Gemini Full Moon. There are areas in our lives that must be transformed, and this New Moon eclipse in Scorpio will force the issue for some of us. As we approach that Full Moon we will become more aware of what exactly is changing and how much we must adjust to those changes.
There is a lot of Scorpio energy floating around. The Sun, Mercury, and Saturn are in that fixed water sign as the month begins. While the Sun exits Scorpio on November 21st, it is immediately replaced by Venus in that secretive sign. Mercury goes direct this month after retrograding back into Scorpio. Once it finally goes into Sagittarius on December 10th we will shake off some of this excessive Scorpio energy thatÕs so pervasive. Until then caution in personal relationships is important. ItÕs easy to overreact or become overwhelmed by the truths being revealed.
So, the election has come and gone and pretty much nothing has changed, at least on the surface, as I predicted. Obama stays in the White House, and although the Democrats picked up seats in both houses of the congress, the House remains under Republican control and the Senate under Democratic control. The gridlock remains in place for now. The real changes are taking place in the collective consciousness as we realize just how much the face of America has been altered in the past few decades.
Now the true test of the Uranus-Pluto square takes place. These are the 2 planets that most demand change, although their approach to it is so very different. Pluto wants deep, transformative alterations to the way you do everything. It seeps us in the unconscious and requires that those changes be at the very root or our being. Uranus just wants changes, suddenly, violently, and extreme. Can we find the compromises necessary to work with these two excessive energies? If we arenÕt willing to make the essential alterations in our attitude, as these two most demanding of planets require, then we truly are doomed to repeat history all over again, and our stubbornness will create a deadlock that we will drown in.
America is a Sun – Saturn square nation, with Saturn prominently displayed in the 10th house of its rulership in Libra, sign of its exaltation. The square to the Sun shows just how much a centralist country we are. We donÕt like tipping too far to the left or the right. And when that potential exists, as it did with Barry Goldwater, the collective refuses to be seduced. We drift from right-central to left-central and back again every eight years or so. But we always wind up back at the Saturn aspect and usually donÕt change in radical ways. Although almost half of the population voted for Romney, in the end his attitudes and plans were too extreme. Obama really is the more centralist of the two. But he canÕt accomplish much with a house divided. Healing sometimes comes with pain. This country has been ripped apart and unfortunately the Uranus-Pluto square will continue until 2016. That doesnÕt mean that we have to stay in this quagmire. The sooner we realize that we must make changes on both sides of the fence the sooner those changes can be incorporated.
Those of you who have followed my work for some time know that I donÕt make a lot of predictions. I tend to have a few issues that I foresee that may take several years to come to fruition. IÕm not interested in attempting to see every little thing. There is a great deal of Sagittarius energy in my chart, and it gives me a bigger perspective.
Since I began my newsletter in 1999, this election is the fourth in a row I have successfully predicted. I first foretold ObamaÕs reelection last January and never changed my opinion. My other best know calls include: Nine eleven, the rise of oil prices from $32 a barrel to over $100. The exact top of the housing market to the very month, and its ultimate collapse, the stock market crash of 2008, and the recession, all long in advance and all within days of their occurrence. I state these facts to show just how successful astrology can be in foreseeing future events.
My predictions regarding these events are well documented in my newsletters, TV and radio appearances, and lecture series including eight years at the Princeton Club for the SIRE group (Society for the Investigation of Recurring Events).
Several years ago I predicted the collapse of the Euro, long before the troubles in Spain, Greece, etc. The natal chart of that currency is fraught with difficult aspects that prevent the secure foundation a currency needs.
In April 2014 there will be a grand cross in the sky involving Pluto opposite Jupiter, squaring Uranus opposite Mars. Mars will be conjunct AmericaÕs Saturn, and Jupiter will be conjunct AmericaÕs Sun. This is a big one, boys and girls. IÕve been discussing this configuration for months, and will continue to do so as the time approaches. This will be an event in our history. It will represent a moment of crisis that will affect our financial markets and our political landscape. Jupiter conjunct the Sun is usually a boost in Gold prices. The very day that gold was discovered in California, January 24, 1849 Jupiter was exactly on AmericaÕs Sun.
The New Moon falls on Tuesday November 13th at 5:08 P.M. EST at 21 degrees Scorpio 57 minutes, and it is an eclipse. This will be an interesting month with this Solar Eclipse and the Lunar Eclipse on November 28th. Scorpio is interested in what is beneath the surface. There is little interest in superficial issues, and the tendency is to dig deeply and uncover hidden agendas and emotions. If this eclipse is setting off your chart, you may have some surprises this month as the truth bubbles up from the unconscious (either personal or collective).
Eclipses put a fog on things. They block out the light and many issues remain hidden despite out best efforts to uncover them. When an eclipse happens in Scorpio it creates a sort of vacuum where the desire for truth may be thwarted by the energy of that eclipse. As such, secrets come spilling out in the most inappropriate situations. Keep your eyes and ears open and be prepared for the unexpected.
MERCURY ENTERS SCORPIO:
On Wednesday November 14th at 2:43 A.M. EST retrograde Mercury tips its head back into Scorpio for about a month. The difference between ScorpioÕs need for secrecy and SagittariusÕ need to open its big mouth at any opportunity will be quite obvious if you pay attention to how people are communicating during this period. With Mercury in Sagittarius there has been a tendency to speak first and think about it later. The desire is to expand all communications in an open and uninhibited way. Now as Mercury goes back into Scorpio we will see a fundamental change in how we all converse. People will be more reticent and less likely to just spew out information. It will be more difficult to get to the bottom of things, but once you do the truth will be shown, warts and all. This sign is never satisfied with the superficial information Sagittarius enjoys. It would rather wait silently until the important knowledge is projected, and then jump into the fray. Use caution, as others will attempt to uncover whatever has been kept secret.
MARS ENTERS CAPRICORN:
On Friday November 16th at 9:36 P.M. EST Mars enters the sign where it is considered exalted. When I was younger I had a hard time with this exaltation. Mars and Saturn do terribly together, but if handled properly there can be a great deal accomplished. The ego will be suppressed and it is easier in some ways to get your work done. The focus is on responsibilities and obligations to others, not on the personal. If you stay focused and attentive to the here-and-now you can use this energy to put things in order and clean up your life.
THE SUN CONJUNCTS MERCURY:
On Saturday November 17th at 10:47 A.M. EST this somewhat frequent aspects completes. People will be more willful in their communications and less likely to back down from confrontations. We will all be quite busy with paperwork and errands. This conjunct is often a turnaround in the long bonds and the soybeans.
THE SUN ENTERS SAGITTARIUS:
On Wednesday November 21st at 4:50 P.M. EST we enter the mutable fire sign. For the next month our attention will be on the future. Anything that is growth oriented and expansive will feel right. Education of all sorts is important, and any activity that leads to knowledge will be productive and helpful. People will tend to be optimistic and outgoing. This is a very sociable sign, and itÕs interesting that the holiday shopping season is in Sagittarius, while Christmas is in Capricorn. There is a tendency to overdo things or overindulge in food, drink, etc. A little self-control would be nice, but probably unrealistic. Look to the far horizons for your answer this month.
VENUS ENTERS SCORPIO:
Also on Wednesday November 21st at 8:20 P.M. EST the goddess of love enters the sign of its detriment, as it rules the opposite sign of Taurus. Venus in this deep feeling and secretive sign can have hidden agendas. Those deep feelings can lead to suppressed anger or even vengeance, which is why this is considered a difficult placement. In a natal chart those born with Venus in Scorpio must learn lessons of balance and forgiveness. If not, there is often a problem in the body either with the kidneys or reproductive organs. By transit this will stir up a lot of long-buried emotions as it attempts to uncover that which is hidden in the unconscious.
THE SUN SQUARES NEPTUNE:
On Thursday November 22nd at 2:13 A.M. EST this very confusing aspect completes. This can be a very difficult day when things just donÕt seem logical or realistic. There is a fog around most issues that make it difficult to see clearly. If this sets off a sensitive point in your chart it may represent the onset of an illness or a period of confusion and misdirection. If you donÕt know what to do, you should do nothing. Clarity will come in time, but pushing against something without substance is a study in frustration. This is usually a bad aspect for the equity markets, so trade with caution for the few days surrounding this.
MARS SQUARES URANUS:
On Friday November 23rd at 5:06 A.M. EST this explosive energy comes along. This is a fight or accident waiting to happen. Many people will have a chip on their shoulder and are looking for an argument. If this sets off your chart it could represent a day of dangerous energy. Use caution when dealing with others, also while traveling. Sudden upsets are common, and if you are susceptible you could get caught up in someone elseÕs karma. Avoid direct confrontation and walk away from any slight or useless arguments. If you have something difficult to say to someone, wait until this passes. It will be easier to get it off your chest without anger, and they will be more apt to listen. This is not a day to sit in front of the computer or get stuck in some confining situation. You will feel feisty and irritable and your rebellious side will emerge.
THE SUN TRINES URANUS:
On Monday November 26th at 9:16 A.M. EST this more positive Uranus aspect completes. This is a day to explore the universe and open your consciousness to new ways of viewing the world and your life. Seek unusual people, situations, and solutions to your troubles. Try to find creative and different outlets. Any unusual form or entertainment or conversation will be stimulating.
MERCURY GOES DIRECT:
Also on Monday November 26th at 5:48 P.M. EST the winged god of mischief turns back around and begins running forward once again. For a few days on either side of this aspect you must use caution and keep your eyes open. When a planet reverses direction is when it has the most effect. For a few days things will move very quickly as we all attempt to catch up to our lives after three weeks of this retrograde. Because Mercury is turning around in Scorpio, you can expect to hear some secrets. Keep your ears open, and try to prepare for the unexpected. Whatever comes out now is necessary for you to move your life forward and make decisions that will have a long-lasting effect. Use caution while traveling and double check your paperwork. We often make mistakes in a rush to move things forward.
VENUS CONJUNCTS SATURN:
Also on Monday November 26th at 8:19 P.M. EST this very stoic transit peaks. This is a day of realistic attitudes, especially regarding romance and financial matters. We will all by more practical and pragmatic in these areas. These is a good time for an important conversation about your future plans with your significant other but keep in mind that Saturn tends to only see the worst of situations, so donÕt take things too seriously. In fact, unless there is a vital issue that has been avoided and must be confronted, you would be better off waiting until this passes before dealing with someone important to you. Your best efforts could be misunderstood and only the negative side of things will be heard.
This monthÕs lunar peak occurs on Wednesday November 28th at 9:46 A.M. EST at 06 degrees Gemini 47 minutes, and it is a Lunar Eclipse. This eclipse is in Gemini, and communication will be at the center of any difficulties it brings. Eclipses block out the light and it is hard to see what is actually happening. Conversations will take on a heavier tone and you may not hear all that is being said. This month is a lot about uncovering things and the release of hidden pressures. The effects of an eclipse can last for months, and whatever occurs now will have longer lasting effects than you may realize. Try to be clear and finish up what you start. If not, the incomplete projects or relationships will linger for about 6 months.
THE SUN OPPOSES JUPITER:
On Sunday December 2nd at 8:45 P.M. EST we have this expansive and enthusiastic aspect. There is a tendency to overdo things whenever Jupiter is involved, and with the Sun in opposition it will mostly be through other people that we experience this. People will be willful and demanding, but also jovial and sociable: an interesting combination. Travel of any sort will be rewarding. This is primarily a time of learning and enlarging oneÕs scope and perspective.
MERCURY ENTERS SAGITTARIUS:
On Monday December 10th at 8:40 P.M. EST Mercury reenters this most expansive of signs. The thirst for knowledge and understanding is strong, as is the ability to see the bigger picture. This is not a detailed oriented sign, and mistakes are quite possible. You must double check all facts and paperwork while Mercury is traveling here. Expect to be busy and very chatty. This sign is not very secretive, and in fact tends to spew out whatever information there is. While Mercury was in Scorpio we experienced a time of uncovering that which is hidden. Sagittarius doesnÕt hide much, but rather throws it all out into the open for you to deal with. Information may become overwhelming at times, so try to prioritize and focus on the important issues.
MERCURY SQUARES NEPTUNE:
On Tuesday December 11th at 7:58 A.M. EST this most disturbing and confusing aspect completes. Misunderstandings and miscommunication will be rampant. ItÕs important to think things through before reacting. You may not have all the information necessary to make a proper decision. Travel can be very difficult. Misdirection is common, and accidents are quite possible as a result. Use caution in your conversations and make sure you know what you are talking about or you could mislead others or be misled yourself.
DARK OF THE MOON:
The next New Moon falls on Thursday December 13th at 3:42 A.M. EST at 21 degree Sagittarius 45 minutes. The day or two leading up to it will be a particularly low energy period. If you tend to be emotional this may be a very trying time each month. I have found that people with prominent moons or a Cancer Sun, Moon or ascendant respond to the cycles of the moon more intensely than others. Spend this time finishing up anything that is incomplete, donÕt try to initiate new projects on a waning moon, it just wonÕt work out. Once the New Moon hits you begin new projects or attempt a new approach to an existing problem. If you have been living in a situation or involved in a relationship that is intolerable or has outlived its usefulness this would be the proper time to move on with your life. If you have been working on a project that is almost complete but you seem to lack the energy for the finality, you must push during these low energy days to end the matter once and for all. If you donÕt, when the New Moon arrives it will bring this ÒdeadÓ energy along with it and conflict with the newer force being presented. Each month we are offered a chance to clean house, so to speak.
Note: All aspects are most powerful and effective as they apply. Once the transit has completed, its force is lessened. The further it separates the weaker it becomes.

Below is a list of times this month when the Moon is Void of Course and neither important decisions nor purchases should be made during these periods. The Void of Course Moon is a time when we should try to center ourselves and deal with spiritual matters not materialistic ones. Any decisions made on the VC Moon will not turn out the way we had expected.
The Moon is Void of Course from the time it makes its last major aspect in a sign until it enters the next sign. For example, if the Moon squares Mars at 27 degrees Aries and then has no more aspects until it enters Taurus it will be Void of Course for three degrees or about 6 hours. The aspects used are the conjunction, sextile, square, trine, and opposition. All times are Eastern:
