OCTOBER 2008

AUTHORÕS NOTES:

Now that the world has once again caught up to astrology, it is time to look at the repercussions and see that is in store for our future. The economy is on most of our minds. This is the worst moment in our history since the Great Depression. The dominoes have fallen just as I predicted, and if they arenÕt stopped soon, they will all fall over. How bad can it get? Frankly, as bad as your imagination could devise. America is an incredibly rich country. We have more natural resources than we could ever use, if they were used properly. Our breadbasket could easily feed the world. Our now mostly defunct industries could be revitalized and the dollar could make a strong comeback. But not the way things are today. We have been robbed by the smartest and most corrupt crooks ever complied in one place. With all of the money we are worth, America has been bankrupted. The thought is almost unimaginable, except in a bad Hollywood movie. Will the bailout work? In a word, no. They set this thing up under retrograde Mercury and there will be serious difficulties down the line. Whenever we react in panic we usually make the wrong choices. We have done just that. The move towards globalization has left our country incredibly vulnerable to the whims of foreign markets and their policies. The most influential, of course, is the Chinese. But if several markets lost all faith in AmericaÕs economy and decided on a protectionist perspective, the whole thing will collapse.

Saturn will oppose Uranus 5 times in the next 18 months. I have been discussing this repeatedly for months and will continue to do so throughout the recurring aspect. There is no way to overemphasis the potential damage this aspect can create. It will shake up the markets even more. The equity swings of hundreds of points in the DOW we have come to accept will look passive compared to what could be coming. If there is no underlying stability put into place, you can expect moves of thousands of points. Now that there will be perhaps half a dozen banks in this country you canÕt piss them off or you wonÕt have a checking account.

What this aspect is showing is the two sides of society; the old ways of SaturnÕs status quo in opposition to the new and experimental ways of Uranus. Within a society these two diametrically opposed beliefs often are in conflict, but usually behind the scenes as a way of doing business. But now they are being brought to the surface quite violently. This is not just happening in America, but across the globe. This coming 18 months will see some very unsettling events, including revolutions, outburst of frustration on a grand scale, and physical disruptions, such as earthquakes, hurricanes and volcanoes. It is this tug-of-war that is threatening to tear our world apart. It will effect our religious thoughts, our cultural ideas and could create an all out social conflict.

I will be lecturing on October 20th on the economic and political future of America. If you would like to read my past predictions, please go to my website.

NEW MOON:

The New Moon falls on Monday September 29th at 4:12 A.M. EST at 6 degrees Libra 33 minutes. Relationship issues will be most prominent this month. Deal directly and openly with any problems that may exist between you and another. Libra is the sign of the scales and balance is most important to this sign. Yet, we have had more stock market crashes while the Sun was in Libra than in any other sign.

MARS ENTERS SCORPIO:

On Saturday October 4th at 12:34 A.M. EST the god of War enters this most secretive of signs. This could represent some behind the scenes hidden activity that may come to light at a most inopportune moment. For the next few weeks you can expect some intensity in your relationships, especially with men, regardless of your sex. This is a time when the ego can play havoc with your emotions. How this effects you personally will depend a great deal upon what house Mars is transiting during its run through this fixed water sign, and what planets in your chart it will aspect.

THE SUN SQUARES JUPITER:

On Monday October 6th at 12:52 P.M. this mostly positive aspect is the first of three transits to complete today. The most important thing about squares to Jupiter is how well you handle excesses and limitations. Most of us wonÕt accept the usual boundaries as we seek growth and opportunity. Expansion of all sorts is favored, but donÕt overdo things or make too many promises. This is a good day for social activities and travel. But with Mercury in square to Jupiter you should use caution while traveling. There is a lot of energy being emitted and you find it difficult to keep a handle on it. Double check your plans and leave extra time for the journey. Mercury is still in retrograde and it is very possible to make mistakes.

THE SUN CONJUNCT MERCURY:

Also on Monday October 6th at 4:53 P.M. this rather willful transit will occur. The three aspects hitting today should be seen as one large transit with its various components working in tandem to increase communications and the flow of ideas. With Mercury in retrograde you could learn something very important today. Secrets are often revealed on a retrograde, and with Jupiter, the planet of unbridled honesty active as well, anything could be said. Be careful how you speak. An arrogant or uncompromising attitude could turn off others.

MERCURY SQUARES JUPITER:

Also on Monday October 6th at 7:46 P.M. EST this square completes this series of aspect. Most of us will be optimistic and outgoing today. As I said above, this is a very sociable group of aspects, but it requires a little caution. Overreacting is a worry with Jupiter aspects and with this square it is in the field of communications that is will most likely manifest. Try to restrain your voice. You could be speaking with more force than you realize. Travel plans should be double checked and you should be extra careful while traveling, especially in a car.

VENUS SQUARES NEPTUNE:

On Saturday October 11th at 4:21 P.M. EST this confusing aspect completes. Relationship issues will be cloudy and you could misunderstand someone quite easily. IN an ongoing relationship this could cause some difficulty, and it is best not to let things fester under the surface. Bring your questions out into the open and you will remove much of the potential problems Neptune can create. Venus rules financial matters as well, so use caution when dealing with your money. Also watch the intake of sweets, alcohol or drugs. You may react badly to them. Indigestion is a very real potential if this aspect sets off a sensitive point in your chart.

FULL MOON:

This monthÕs lunar peak occurs on Tuesday October 14th at 4:02 P.M. EST at 21 degrees Aries 51 minutes. The issues right now have to do with personal freedom versus relationship commitments. Some may find it intolerable to be restricted in any way from now until the next New Moon. Compromise is very difficult, and it may better just to leave any conflicts alone at least for a day or two until this energy subsides. This fire sign is ruled by Mars, the god of war. Some people will seek any opportunity to create a disagreement. There could be some serious military escalation in the world stage.

MERCURY GOES DIRECT:

On Wednesday October 15th at 4:06 P.M. EST the winged god turns back around and things will slowly begin to return to normal. For the next few days while Mercury is reestablishing its direction you must be extra careful. Many mistakes, accidents and misunderstandings will occur each time this planet changes direction. Because the retrograde occurred in Libra, this will add even more relationship issues to your plate. As this planet turns you can expect to hear some important information.

VENUS ENTERS SAGITTARIUS:

On Saturday October 18th at 2:31 P.M. EST the ruler of love and possessions enters the most expansive and inhibited sign of the zodiac. For the next few weeks we will all be a bit more assertive in love relationships. But Sagittarius has its own rules of conduct that often include flirtatiousness and a freer sense of what love means. DonÕt commit yourself to a relationship that begins with this placement until you have had enough time to test it. Because of the expansive qualities of this sign it is easy to blow things out of proportion, such as turning an affair into a marriage long before it is appropriate to do so. Also be careful not to overspend. You may believe that you have more resources than you do.

THE SUN ENTERS SCORPIO:

On Wednesday October 22nd at 9:09 P.M. EST we enter the fixed part of autumn. There is a depth to this sign that is often misunderstood. Scorpio, or the 8th house, is where we rejuvenate the energy of life. This is the boundlessly deep pool of water that is still, and therefore doesnÕt flow along with life, as a river or ocean. But it is in that depth of water that life began and life begins anew each year. We are about to enter winter, with its imagery of death, but it leads inevitably to spring, the rebirth of everything. You may have to dig a little deeper to get to the truth this month, but the work will be worth the rewards.

MERCURY SQUARES JUPITER:

On Sunday October 26th at 8:14 A.M. EST the third pass of this aspect completes. Now the Mercury is going direct again, it squares Jupiter for the last time in this cycle. As above and in last monthÕs newsletter, the same words of warning about overdoing or speaking without forethought apply. But use this aspect as it is meant to be, and expand your thoughts and consciousness in any way possible. A group discussion would be a wonderfully creative way to do so.

DARK OF THE MOON:

The next New Moon falls on Tuesday October 28th at 7:14 P.M. EST at 5 degrees Scorpio 54 minutes. The day or two leading up to it will be a particularly low energy period. If you tend to be emotional this may be a very trying time each month. I have found that people with prominent moons or a Cancer Sun, Moon or ascendant respond to the cycles of the moon more intensely than others. Spend this time finishing up anything that is incomplete, donÕt try to initiate new projects on a waning moon, it just wonÕt work out. Once the New Moon hits you begin new projects or attempt a new approach to an existing problem. If you have been living in a situation or involved in a relationship that is intolerable or has outlived its usefulness this would be the proper time to move on with your life. If you have been working on a project that is almost complete but you seem to lack the energy for the finality, you must push during these low energy days to end the matter once and for all. If you donÕt, when the New Moon arrives it will bring this ÒdeadÓ energy along with it and conflict with the newer force being presented. Each month we are offered a chance to clean house, so to speak.

Note: All aspects are most powerful and effective as they apply. Once the transit has completed, its force is lessened. The further it separates the weaker it becomes.

Below is a list of times this month when the Moon is Void of Course and neither important decisions nor purchases should be made during these periods. The Void of Course Moon is a time when we should try to center ourselves and deal with spiritual matters not materialistic ones. Any decisions made on the VC Moon will not turn out the way we had expected.

The Moon is Void of Course from the time it makes its last major aspect in a sign until it enters the next sign. For example, if the Moon squares Mars at 27 degrees Aries and then has no more aspects until it enters Taurus it will be Void of Course for three degrees or about 6 hours. The aspects used are the conjunction, sextile, square, trine, and opposition.

All times are Eastern Daylight:
