LIVING BY STARLIGHT
AN ASTROLOGICAL NEWSLETTER
The election went as predicted; the Democrats more or less control both houses (though with Joe Lieberman sitting on the fence anything could happen.) There were fewer complications than expected, and although there were plenty of reports of difficulties with the voting machines, etc., the Republicans simply didn’t have the fight left in them to try and steal it. They were psychologically defeated before the first vote was cast. That is why Bush didn’t remove Rumsfield before the election. Now what will these changes mean?
This month we will see six planets journey through Sagittarius, the most expansive of signs. Many of us will experience a feeling of growth and development. There should be much optimism in the air, and a feeling of open and honest communication. The main pitfall is overextending and taking on more than you can handle. Once these planets leave this sign and enter Capricorn you will not have the same growth oriented attitude and may not be able to juggle all you have chosen. This will show itself in our financial markets as well. Right now the stocks could go either way. I wouldn’t be surprised by a run up in the stocks for a few weeks, as enthusiasm and overly optimistic feeling prevail. But even if they do go up, it is only a set-up for when all of this energy enters restrictive Capricorn in a few weeks. I believe all this Sagittarius energy represents inflation, something the markets do not like, which will be followed by a recession. If the inflationary reports come out soon, this month will see a big decline in the stocks, followed by a stabilizing next month. If inflation is not reported now, the stocks will explode and get crushed in about a month when the truth about our economy becomes known. Either way I would be careful with my investments, and try to diversify into inflationary proof funds.
Now on to the continued rape of Manhattan: The proposed reopening of the 91st Street waste transit station is simply the most disgusting thing this administration has done. The city conducted an “extensive environmental report” that is so tainted and false it would be funny, if it weren’t so tragic. Garbage trucks will line up across 72nd Street and travel up York Avenue for 20 blocks, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, through a completely residential neighborhood. Anyone who says they believe a report that states that this will have no environmental impact is either stupid or lying. Those of us who lived with this atrocity before know full well what to expect. It was impossible to eradicate the cockroaches and mice until years after the transit station was closed. Rats the size of cats ran freely through Yorkville and dug into buildings throughout the Upper East Side. The spillage from the trucks was sickening. You could not walk your dog across the avenue, and were forced to remove your shoes before entering you home. Before it was only from 8:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. five days a week; this time it will be infinitely worse. The trucks will never stop and the spillage and vermin will conquer this wonderful neighborhood.
So why would this administration allow this to occur, knowing the area will depreciate and that there will be billions of dollars of lost property value? The only sensible answer is that it is because there are a great many stabilized apartments in the area that will be affected. Bloomberg hates rent control on any level, and must figure that in the end, many of the small landlords will not be able to rent under these conditions and will give up and sell their walk-ups to the big boys, who will eventually remove all the rent-controlled and stabilized units and replace them with high-rises. And he’s right; they will. Then, in 10 years or so, once this “rat’s nest” of middle class families have been cleared out, mistakes will be admitted and the waste transit station will be closed once more. The purpose of this atrocity aimed at the middle class is so obvious and insidious at the same time that it is an insult to any reasonably intelligent person. No mayor forced to live in Gracie Mansion, one block from the proposed sight, would ever approve this plan.
The New Moon falls on Monday November 20th at 5:18 P.M. EDT at 28 degrees Scorpio 27 minutes. This is a month for transformative changes. Anything that you have wanted to alter, either in a project or within yourself, will become prominent in your thoughts. Because the Moon conjuncts Jupiter soon after it is new, this month will offer us a more optimistic outlook than we have had of late. There is a great deal of Jupiter and Sagittarius energy coming to the forefront in the next few weeks. Just be careful not to overextend yourself.
THE SUN CONJUNCTS JUPITER:
On Tuesday November 21st at 6:16 P.M. EST this positive aspect completes. This will be a day of openness and optimism when people will be friendlier and more apt to be honest. But this is just the beginning of this attitude. There is a lot of Sagittarius and Jupiter energy this month, as you will see. Look for ways to expand your consciousness and your plans.
THE SUN ENTERS SAGITTARIUS:
On Wednesday November 22nd at 6:02 A.M. EST we enter the mutable part of autumn, as we begin making preparations for the coming winter. We will be continuing the sense of growth and positive thoughts, and for the next month or so the world will be more interested in philosophical ideas and new or foreign things. Unless you have planets at zero degrees mutable that may be negatively affected by these transits, this will be an extended period of enthusiasm and expansion. Even if the stock market has a big run up, be careful. Inflation is often a side-effect of this much Jupiter energy and it could all come tumbling down next month when we enter restrictive Capricorn.
JUPITER ENTERS SAGITTARIUS:
On Thursday November 23rd at 11:44 P.M. EST the ruler of this sign makes its once-every 12 years journey home to complete this grouping. When it comes home to roost Jupiter will bring all of its lovely gifts, including optimism and growth. Just try to keep things in perspective and don’t take on too much or you will regret it down the line. Overexpansion and blind faith are two of the most dangerous potential troubles. This is why inflation often is a side-effect of this transit.
VENUS SQUARES URANUS:
On Saturday November 25th at 5:54 P.M. EST the planet of love and possessions creates a conflicting aspect to the planet of sudden and unexpected events. Expect the unusual, especially in love. People will be easily bored and looking for excitement. Any love affair or friendship that begins now may be quite stimulating, but not very stable. You should leave some time to see the truth before committing too much to any new situation. Keep an eye on your money; with this aspect you could spend frivolously and not even notice until it’s too late.
MERCURY SQUARES NEPTUNE:
On Tuesday November 28th at 7:54 P.M. EST this confusing and somewhat debilitating aspect will complete. Misunderstanding will abound. Make certain you are being understood, and if you don’t comprehend what is being said, ask for clarification. All communications should be carefully scrutinized. Be careful while traveling. The confusion this aspect creates could manifest as an accident if it sets off a sensitive point in your chart.
MARS SQUARES SATURN:
Also on Tuesday November 28th at 9:59 P.M. EST this frustrating transit comes along. This may be a difficult day for many of us. The combination of stress that this aspect produces mixed in with the confusion of the above mentioned coupling could create problems. Egos will be fragile, so try not to be too pushy. This can be an exasperating aspect, as things will not go your way. Don’t fight it; just wait a day or so and try again.
THE SUN SQUARES URANUS:
On Saturday December 2nd at 11:59 P.M. EST this potentially dangerous or explosive transit completes. This may be an upsetting day with the potential for arguments and accidents. Do be careful. Most of the problems come from misdirection and distractions. It comes right before the Full Moon, so this may be the beginning of a few days of stress. The financial markets may be under siege as inflation becomes more apparent. Try to avoid direct confrontation, and drive defensively.
MERCURY SQUARES SATURN:
On Monday December 4th at 3:07 P.M. EST the planet of communications conflicts with the task-master. It may be difficult to get your point across, and communications of all sorts may be stifled and delayed. This is a good day to focus on any arduous mental tasks. You can get a lot of work done quickly. But I wouldn’t plan an important social gathering or presentation. You probably won’t have a strong desire to be in the public. Mercury has a lot to do with the bond markets, and this may represent a major decision involving rates and foreign debts.
Also on Monday December 4th at 7:25 P.M. EST the lunar peak occurs at 12 degrees Gemini 43 minutes. All Full Moons intensify the energy, and since this one is in the sign of thoughts and communications, we can expect an increase in the pace of those things for a day or so. Mercury also rules short journey, so use extra caution while traveling. If this sets off a sensitive point in your chart this could be a day when you receive some important information. This Full Moon happens to fall on America’s descendant (the cusp of the 7th house of partners and open enemies), so this may be a big news day for the nation.
On Tuesday December 5th at 11:07 P.M. EST the planet of structure and stability begins to move backwards from our perspective. This could have a major impact on the already besieged housing market. I have been predicting a recession caused in part by the collapse of this sector, and I’m afraid this aspect will herald real signs of its beginning. This will be a good time to make plans for the future that you will instigate in the spring, but not a good time to begin a new business or partnership. If you can wait until Saturn turns around on April 19th, it would be better. If not, you must take extra precautions to secure your business’ resources and value. Hire people that are exceptionally good with money and with structure. A good administrative assistant is worth their weight in gold.
MARS ENTERS SAGITTARIUS:
Also on Tuesday December 5th at 11:59 P.M. EST Mars joins the Sun, Venus, Pluto and Jupiter in this sign, increasing our desire for expansion. Mars rules the ego, so try not to let your get out of hand. For the next month or so everything may seem a bit out of proportion. Try to keep your perspective. The desire for growth that this sign creates will extend to all things Mars deals with. There could even be an escalation in military operations.
VENUS TRINES SATURN:
On Thursday December 7th at 2:17 A.M. EST a more sober and stable attitude towards love will be in play. People want honesty, although they may not know it. With Venus about to conjunct Pluto you may become somewhat compulsive about a potential lover, but this aspect will at least give you some patience in dealing with it. This would be a good day to go Christmas shopping; you will be more frugal and probably buy more useful gifts.
VENUS CONJUNCTS PLUTO:
Also on Thursday December 7th at 10:50 P.M. EST this obsessive aspect completes. Be careful; you are apt to become overwhelmed by a person, idea or object. Any love affair begun now will be intense and obsessive. But it may not be the best thing for you. Try to see things objectively or you could become unrealistically attached to someone.
MERCURY ENTERS SAGITTARIUS:
On Friday December 8th at 12:52 A.M. EST Mercury becomes the 6th Planet in this sign. There may be a feeling of exuberance and a sense of overt optimism. Thoughts will come quickly, and people will be chatty. There is a tendency to talk first and think later, so do be careful that you reason out what you are going to say. Don’t believe everything you are told during the next few weeks. There is also a tendency towards exaggeration. But people will be more hopeful and positive. It is the holiday season, so why not get into the spirit. Just don’t overdo or overextend. With 6 planets in Sagittarius it will be most difficult not to. That may be the challenge for this period.
MERCURY CONJUNCTS MARS:
On Saturday December 9th at 9:28 P.M. EST people will be tend to be feisty and argumentative. As this approaches you should try to avoid confrontations and disagreements, unless the issues are important enough to fight about. Sometimes we need a little push to get things done, but this could be more than you bargained for. Be extra careful while driving and even walking.
MERCURY CONJUNCTS JUPITER.
On Sunday December 10th at 11:59 A.M. EST communications will abound. People will be chatty and outgoing. This is a good time to discuss whatever has been on your mind. Most people will be optimistic and easy-going. You may have to fight for attention, as everyone will want to talk at once. But this is a nice morning and you should spend it with others.
VENUS ENTERS CAPRICORN:
On Monday December 11th at 12:33 A.M. EST the planet of love and possessions deserts its companions and leaves expansive Sagittarius for restrictive Capricorn. If you are on a tight budget you should probably wait until now to do your Christmas shopping. Everyone will be a bit more conservative and resistant to frivolous spending. Any relationship begun now may not have a sense of great excitement, but it should have staying power and longevity. What is it you are looking for?
MARS CONJUNCTS JUPITER:
Also on Monday December 11th at 11:11 A.M. EST these two conjoin. This day could go either way. Egos could get blown out of proportion, resulting in conflicts and escalations in all conflicts. But Jupiter really wants to have a good time, so if you can put your ego into proper perspective this could be a wonderful day. There could be a feeling of great optimism and expansion, and this may be a good time to increase your plans. Normally I would expect this to be a huge up day for the stocks. But with the expectation of things, there could be inflationary news that makes the markets go the other way. I would expect an active day in the financial markets in either case. Which way do they go? Let’s wait and see.
MERCURY SQUARES URANUS:
On Friday December 15th at 10:02 A.M. EST these two create a conflicting aspect. People will be nervous and jittery today. There could be a great deal of communications and you must pay attention to details and scrutinize all papers carefully. Arguments could abound. Do be careful while traveling. This is an accident waiting to happen. Don’t let it happen to you.
THE SUN TRINES SATURN:
On Saturday December 16th at 8:36 P.M. EST this stabilizing aspect completes. If things have been jumpy and discombobulated lately this should settle things down. This is a good day for making plans or getting your work done. It isn’t a terribly exciting aspect, nor will it interfere with your life. Mostly it will just give you a feeling of structure upon which to move projects along.
THE SUN CONJUNCTS PLUTO:
On Monday December 18th at 9:37 A.M. EST this intense and potentially dangerous aspect completes. People will be compulsive and unlikely to bend their will. If this sets off your chart there is the potential for difficulty with authority figures. This will be an interesting day in the financial markets. Whatever direction they move in today may set the pace for the near future.
DARK OF THE MOON:
The next New Moon falls on Monday November 20th at 5:18 P.M. EST. The day or so leading up to it will be a particularly low energy period. Spend this time finishing up anything that is incomplete, don’t try to initiate new projects on a waning moon, it just won’t work out. Once the New Moon hits you begin new projects or attempt a new approach to an existing problem. If you have been living in a situation or involved in a relationship that is intolerable or has outlived its usefulness this would be the proper time to move on with your life. If you have been working on a project that is almost complete but you seem to lack the energy for the finality, you must push during these low energy days to end the matter once and for all. If you don’t, when the New Moon arrives it will bring this “dead” energy along with it and conflict with the newer force being presented. Each month we are offered a chance to clean house, so to speak.
Note: All aspects are most powerful and
effective as they apply. Once the transit has completed, its force is lessened.
The further it separates the weaker it becomes.
Below is a list of times this month when the Moon is Void of Course and neither important decisions nor purchases should be made during these periods. The Void of Course Moon is a time when we should try to center ourselves and deal with spiritual matters not materialistic ones. Any decisions made on the VC Moon will not turn out the way we had expected.
The Moon is Void of Course from the time it makes its last major aspect in a sign until it enters the next sign. For example, if the Moon squares Mars at 27 degrees Aries and then has no more aspects until it enters Taurus it will be Void of Course for three degrees or about 6 hours. The aspects used are the conjunction, sextile, square, trine, and opposition.
All times are Eastern Daylight:
