LIVING BY STARLIGHT
AN ASTROLOGICAL NEWSLETTER
…and so the façade continued to fall apart until all that was left was the CEO of World Wide Greed Inc. frantically pulling levers and shouting: “Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain. I am the great and powerful Bush.” And tomorrow, children, we will read another classic fairy tale: “Wasteland”, the history of the E.P.A.
The first government of Manhattan Island was begun on February 12, 1653. New York City was incorporated January 1, 1898 at 12:01 A.M. These two charts show the differences in personalities between Manhattan and the five boroughs as a whole. It also shows the similarities. As karma would have it, Pluto takes about 250 years to go around the zodiac. These two cities were begun 245 years apart; Pluto is conjunct Pluto within a degree at 12 degrees Gemini in these two charts. America has a 12 degree Sagittarius ascendant, thus a 12 degree Gemini descendant. NYC and Manhattan’s Pluto is exactly conjunct the descendant. Saturn opposed Pluto in the sky at 12 degrees Sagittarius – Gemini on 9/11 conjunct America’s ascendant; as well as Pluto in the other two charts. America’s self image and physical body (ascendant) was badly damaged at the very spot that was most vulnerable at that time; Manhattan Island.
The Planet Uranus, ruler of explosive and unexpected things, is in square to that 12 degree Gemini point on and off until February 2007. It is therefore squaring Manhattan’s and NYC’s Pluto as well as America’s ascendant. Until February 2007 we will be very vulnerable to attack; particularly in New York. There is some evidence that this solar eclipse may set off some world situation. I wouldn’t be at all surprised. There are many volatile situations right now, and any number of them could explode into a major problem. Let’s hope not.
The stock market is not going anywhere, oil is not going down, housing goes up and down, and up and down, and Sharon Stone looks 30. Uranus is still in Pisces, and we will have another brutal hurricane season. By the time those in power believe there are changes happening, it will already have happened.
This month’s New Moon falls on Wednesday March 29th at 5:15 A.M. EST at 8 degrees Aries 35 minutes. This is the first New Moon of the New Year, and more than any other, gives us the opportunity to begin things fresh. Projects started during the next few weeks have a good chance of fruition. This Aries New Moon is also an eclipse, which will intensify things for a while. If you direct the energy, this month will be very productive. But with all eclipses there is a word of warning. The intensity associated with this aspect has a well documented history. Major world events are often set off by an eclipse, and this one lands all over the charts of America, Manhattan and New York City. I wouldn’t be surprised if this month proves quite pivotal in many ways. The time between now and the next eclipse in September will be a period unto itself with projects begun now coming to completion in the fall. Make a six month plan and try to stick to it.
Also on Wednesday March 29th at 7:38 A.M. EST our distant cousin begins its journey backwards. For the next few months there will be delays in issues involving wills, inheritances, and partnerships. Certain giant mergers as well as getting your hands on Aunt Esmeralda’s jewelry will be effected. Remember, delay doesn’t mean denial. You will eventually get what you deserve. (No comment.) While Pluto is in retrograde hidden plans are worked out. Once it goes direct they are put into play.
VENUS SEXTILES PLUTO:
On Sunday April 2nd at 6:33 P.M. EST this positive aspect completes. Here is an opportunity to lay a strong foundation in a relationship. This aspect wants understanding and depth between people and the sextile allows us to absorb the information more easily. This closely follows a disruptive Moon Uranus square, so if you’re interested in relationships running smoothly I would wait until about 6:10 P.M. EST to start the date. After that things should be just fine.
SATURN GOES DIRECT:
On Wednesday April 5th at 8:56 A.M. EST the planet of karma and responsibility finally turns around and starts heading forwards. Many business decisions have been delayed for the past few months. Financing, contracts, negotiations and issues dealing directly with banks have caused problems. Now that Saturn is finally turning around things should move forward. This would be a terrific time to begin a new venture or complete a deal that had been pending for a while. Real estate and long-term investments in particular will flourish – if you laid a strong foundation. Otherwise you will soon see where the weaknesses are. Act now and you will have a chance to fix them.
VENUS ENTERS PISCES:
Also on Wednesday April 5th at 9:21 P.M. EST the planet of love enters this most spiritual of signs and for a few weeks people’s sensitivity and compassion will be peaked. Romances will be more about understanding than sex (sorry guys), as we explore the connection between earthly pleasures and the search for higher meaning. Be careful of overindulging in food and drink; especially drink.
MARS OPPOSES PLUTO:
On Saturday April 8th at 4:19 A.M. EST this nasty aspect comes along. Whenever these two form a hard aspect we should pay more attention in general to avoid confrontations and accidents. There is tension in the air that we will all respond to based on our individual chart. Although most of us will only experience this as a rude waiter or argument with a friend, if this aspect hits a sensitive spot in the chart it could have serious effects.
THE SUN SEXTILES NEPTUNE:
On Sunday April 9th at 3:33 A.M. EST this pleasant coupling occurs. This is a creative and potentially inventive aspect that can be of particular help to artists, psychics and anyone else who uses the left brain more than the right. It is too easy to simply let this pass as a daydream morning. But if applied, it could help inspire a new hobby or a clever solution to a problem.
This month’s lunar peak hits on Thursday April 13th at 12:40 P.M. EST at 23 degrees Libra 37 minutes. Relationships are in the forefront. If there is trouble in your intimate one-on-one coupling it may very well come to a head now. All Full Moons must be respected. The Libra placement tends to be less aggressive than other signs, but the passive-aggressive nature of Libras will become all too clear for a few days. Don’t mistake quietness for meekness. You may find yourself backed into a corner with no idea how you got there.
MERCURY SQUARES PLUTO:
Also on Thursday April 13th at 4:53 P.M. EST this aggressive and angry aspect comes along right after the Full Moon. Be careful today! This aspect usually manifests as verbal assaults and compulsive thinking, but it could represent trouble while traveling, or even a direct confrontation, possibly violent. Use extra caution, especially behind the wheel. There is pent up energy that must be released or it will respond negatively. Don’t get in the way of someone else’s compulsions or animosity. Try to avoid confrontations.
MARS ENTERS CANCER:
Also on Thursday April 13th at 8:59 P.M. EST the planet of ego enters this overly expressive water sign. Those born with this placement often have a hard time controlling their emotions and often display a temper. The problem is that this fiery planet feels weakened in this sign and over compensates by playing macho. If you understand someone’s motivation you can more easily deal with whatever they are presenting. Expect people to be a bit too sensitive for a while. This will be especially true if it is generally their nature.
MERCURY ENTERS ARIES:
On Sunday April 16th at 8:20 A.M. EST the planet of travel and communication begins anew its journey through the zodiac. Impulsive journeys and speech will be the order of the day. People will tend to tell you what they think, often without paying attention. There will be aggressiveness in conversations, and coupled with Mars, ruler of Aries, in Cancer now, you can expect many people to over-react especially to emotional situations. Act accordingly.
SUN TRINES PLUTO:
Also on Sunday April 16th at 3:33 P.M. EST this positive aspect completes. This may help smooth over some of the aggressive attitudes you may have encountered, but it isn’t powerful enough to overcome the effects of the earlier aspects altogether. I would still use caution as you get used to the Mars and Mercury placements. We will have to deal with them for several weeks yet. Still, you can use this aspect to help put things in order and to get other people’s assistance in projects. They will be more apt to help while Pluto is in positive aspect.
VENUS CONJUNCTS URANUS:
On Tuesday April 18th at 5:42 A.M. EST this bizarre and unpredictable aspect completes. Love will be unusual and strange for a day or two. Romances may begin or end suddenly, and you may find out something surprising about your lover. Impulsive shopping is also common with this placement. But be careful about buying something marked ‘final sale’, as you may not like it so much in a few days. I wouldn’t pick today to choose new decorations or begin any major renovations for the same reason.
MERCURY SQUARES MARS:
Also On Tuesday April 18th at 5:56 A.M. EST another nasty and argumentative aspect comes along. It’s a quick moving aspect that occurs in the early morning, so many of us may miss the opportunity to tell someone off. Don’t worry, there will be other chances. Besides being a verbally combative aspect, this is a quintessential accident waiting to happen. Don’t let it happen to you. If you are out the night before or happen to be up this early, please pay attention and drive defensively.
MERCURY TRINES SATURN:
On Wednesday April 19th at 5:08 P.M. EST Mercury enters a supportive aspect. This is a good day for any type of arduous mental work. Organization and structure will go smoothly. If you are making a presentation of any sort, this would be a good day for it.
SUN ENTERS TAURUS:
On Thursday April 20th at 1:25 A.M. EST we enter the fixed earth sign. Money, possessions, security and longevity are what are most prominent in our minds. Many of us will be more interested in the business end of things than usual. Romance will also tend to be judged by its sense of security rather than passion. This Venus ruled sign is much different than Libra, the sign ruled by this planet. Where Libra seeks relationships at all costs, Taurus seeks those that will have staying power and upon which we can build a foundation. People will begin to show a more stubborn side in all issues. Take the time to explain yourself and you can avoid problems of inflexibility.
VENUS TRINES JUPITER:
Also on Thursday April 20th at 11:45 A.M. EST this most wonderful of aspects comes along. When the lower and higher benefic planets are in positive orb, such as now, we have the potential for growth and expansion without the usual hair-pulling. Things just seem to work out better. Romance could certainly be in the air, especially if this hits your chart just right. This could be a lovely day, although the Moon is Void of Course all day, so things may not turn out as you expected. Go with the flow. An occasional surprise makes life all that much more exciting.
SUN SQUARES SATURN:
On Monday April 24th at 9:33 P.M. EST the wet blanket is thrown over us all. This is not a nice day for a picnic. This aspect is best used for work. Anything that has been hanging over your head will become quite demanding now. Energy levels are quite low, and there is a feeling of lethargy in the air. Don’t push against the wind. Just wait a day and your usual vitality will return.
DARK OF THE MOON:
The next New Moon falls on Thursday April 27th at 3:44 P.M. EST. The day or so leading up to it will be a particularly low energy period. Spend this time finishing up anything that is incomplete, don’t try to initiate new projects on a waning moon, it just won’t work out. Once the New Moon hits you begin new projects or attempt a new approach to an existing problem. If you have been living in a situation or involved in a relationship that is intolerable or has outlived its usefulness this would be the proper time to move on with your life. If you have been working on a project that is almost complete but you seem to lack the energy for the finality, you must push during these low energy days to end the matter once and for all. If you don’t, when the New Moon arrives it will bring this “dead” energy along with it and conflict with the newer force being presented. Each month we are offered a chance to clean house, so to speak.
Below is a list of times this month when the Moon is Void of Course and neither important decisions nor purchases should be made during these periods. The Void of Course Moon is a time when we should try to center ourselves and deal with spiritual matters not materialistic ones. Any decisions made on the VC Moon will not turn out the way we had expected.
The Moon is Void of Course from the time it makes its last major aspect in a sign until it enters the next sign. For example, if the Moon squares Mars at 27 degrees Aries and then has no more aspects until it enters Taurus it will be Void of Course for three degrees or about 6 hours. The aspects used are the conjunction, sextile, square, trine, and opposition.
All times are Eastern Daylight:
